Two companies with local connections have made leadership changes and have hired new chief financial officers (CFOs).
NOVA Chemicals Corporation named Eric Brenner as its new CFO this week.
Benner has been with the company since 2017 and has served as acting CFO since May 2022, read a media release.
The company also named Rocky Vermani as its senior vice president of innovation and sustainability and Robert Vislosky as its new chief officer of supply chain and procurement. Vermani has been with the company for nearly 30 years while Vislosky is returning to NOVA after he left in 2003.
“After a thorough search, it’s clear that Eric is the right CFO to lead NOVA through this next phase of growth for NOVA and we are delighted to welcome Rob back to NOVA. He is a seasoned executive well equipped to lead the supply chain and procurement organization and drive success for the company. Rocky’s new portfolio underscores the importance innovation will have in achieving our sustainability ambitions,” said NOVA's President and CEO Roger Kearns. “I look forward to working with our management team as NOVA drives toward a low-carbon, zero plastic waste future.”
Meanwhile, Origin Materials has appointed Matt Plavan as its new CFO, effective October 30.
Plavin will succeed Interim CFO Pam Haley, who will continue as senior vice president of accounting and finance.
As stated in a media release, Plavan has over 16 years of executive experience.
“I strongly believe in Origin’s mission to advance sustainability across the materials supply chain,” said Plavan in a media release. “The company’s patented platform for turning the carbon found in inexpensive biomass into useful material is well-positioned for global scale-up and I am very excited to join Origin’s executive team to help drive superior financial and operational execution in the years ahead.”
In his new role, Plavin will work closely with Origin’s Co-CEOs and board of directors to drive the company forward.
Origin Materials regards itself as being "the world’s leading carbon negative materials company."
