Sting sign draft pick Hurt

The Sarnia Sting have signed another 2023 draft pick to an OHL contract.

On Friday, the hockey club announced the signing of fourth-round pick Hughston Hurt to a Standard Player Agreement.

Hurt, a defenseman from Oakland Township, Michigan, appeared in 81 games last season with the Detroit Little Caesars 15U AAA team. He scored three goals and added 25 assists for a team that ranked first overall amongst 115 teams in the US, and captured a state championship.

Sting General Manager Dylan Seca said Hurt is a player their scouting staff worked diligently on this winter.

"He is a two-way defender with good mobility," said Seca. "He’s a competitive player who doesn’t shy away from the physical game and we love both his upside and character."

Hurt is the fourth Sting draft pick from this year's priority selection to sign a player agreement with the hockey club.

Fellow defenseman Nathan Omeri signed with the club earlier this week, second round pick James Barr signed a deal last week, and first rounder Ryan Brown was signed at the start of the month.
