LKDSB Director of Education staying on

Director of Education John Howitt will continue his role for another five years.

The Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB) renewed Howitt's contract during its regular board meeting on Tuesday.

His contract, which was set to end on July 31, has been extended to July 21, 2029.

In a news release, LKDSB Chair Randy Campbell said under Howitt's leadership, the board has made great progress in terms of student achievement and wellbeing.

“The renewal of this contract allows for the LKDSB to continue to push forward, uninterrupted, in efforts to build on those successes and further the commitment to supporting our students," said Campbell.

John Howitt said he is excited for the opportunity to reach more goals identified through the Strategic Priorities, and Operational Plan.

"Although our board was not exempt from navigating the rough waters that school boards across the province have faced over the last few years, I am motivated by the incredible team of dedicated staff that I have alongside me, and I am honoured to be able to continue as LKDSB’s Director of Education," said Howitt.

Howitt took over the role as director in 2019 following the retirement of Jim Costello.
