Area beaches clear as testing begins for summer season

Area beaches have received an all clear for swimming as we head into a heat wave this week.

Lambton Public Health (LPH) started monitoring beach water quality at seven public beaches along the shore of Lake Huron on Monday, June 17.

Water testing is conducted at Grand Bend, Pinery Provincial Park, Ipperwash Main Beach, C.J. McEwan (Highland Glen), Bright's Grove and Canatara.

Lambton Public Health said at this time, no warning signs are posted.

Following heavy rainfall, the water at area beaches may be temporarily polluted for up to 48 hours.

It's advised that you check the water quality status before you head out to the beach.

You can do that by texting the keyword: BEACH to 226-909-3003, viewing LPH's map of beach locations and inspection results, calling the Beach Info Line: 519-383-3816, toll-free 1-800-667-1839 ext. 3816 or viewing signs at the inspected beach location entry points.
