Former Lambton CAO filling Warwick vacancy

A familiar face has come out of retirement to temporarily fill a vacant position in Warwick Township.

Mayor Todd Case welcomed Ron Van Horne at their recent council meeting.

"It's my absolute pleasure on behalf of township council to have our new acting CAO (Chief Administrative Officer) Ron Van Horne with us," said Case. "Ron is no stranger to Lambton County. He was previously the CAO for the county of Lambton for approximately 25 or 26 years."

Case recalled working closely with Van Horne for many years.

"I've had the privilege to be able to work with Ron during my three terms as warden of Lambton County and always enjoyed my working relationship with him," he said.

Van Horne announced his retirement from the county last fall, and marked his official last day in February.

"I feel we're very lucky to have Ron here to assist us for the next, however [many] months Mr. Van Horne feels is necessary for us," said Case.

Former Chief Administrative Officer/Clerk Amanda Gubbels resigned in late June.

The township said in a staff change announcement her last day was July 4.

"I would like to thank Amanda for her years of dedicated service and numerous contributions to our municipality," Mayor Case said. "I wish Amanda continued success in her new role."

Gubbels is now the CAO in Southwest Middlesex.
