Sarnia man charged in alleged assault

Sarnia police arrested a man following an alleged assault of a security guard early Friday morning at an apartment downtown.

Police were called to an apartment building at Maxwell Street and Front Street at 1 a.m.

A 21-year-old man said he was conducting a vehicle patrol of the apartment when he saw the suspect.

The 27-year-old man allegedly threw down his cigarette, ran towards him, shouting and gesturing aggressively.

The victim quickly drove away with the suspect chasing him on foot.

When police attended the scene the accused was arrested.

Police said the suspect allegedly targeted the victim on other occasions.

On February 3, when the security guard was patrolling a Derby Lane apartment building, the suspect attempted to steal the victims phone and threatened him.

Police said on February 17, the suspect chased the victim at a Derby Lane apartment.

The 27-year-old is charged with uttering threats, assault, fail to comply with a probation order and criminal harassment.

He was held for bail and has been remanded in custody.
