With what some people are referring to as tariff whiplash impacting local businesses and industries, the Sarnia-Lambton Chamber of Commerce is hoping to provide some helpful advice.
The chamber is hosting a seminar next week called Economic Outlook 2025: Navigating the Unknown, in partnership with BDC, the Chatham-Kent Chamber of Commerce and the Lambton Business Collaborative.
CEO Carrie McEachran said the goal is to provide valuable insights into market trends and policy changes.
"So navigating the unknown is what we're all doing these days," said McEachran. "We had a great opportunity to have the BDC Chief Economist Pierre Cleroux come to Sarnia so we thought it would be a great idea to start with him as a keynote and then have a panel of some local industry people."
McEachran said panelists include representatives from the local petrochemical and agricultural industries.
"Those are two key industries here in Sarnia-Lambton and the hope is that we will do more of these with different industries as well," she said.
Panelists include President and CEO of the Chemistry Industry Association of Canada Greg Moffatt, Director of Government and Stakeholder Relations for Canadian Fuels Association Landon Tresise and Director of the Ontario Federation of Agriculture Crispin Colvin.
The seminar is scheduled for Monday, April 14 at the Four Points by Sheraton in Point Edward.
Tickets are $10 for chamber members, $15 for non-members, available through the chamber of commerce's website.
The following night on Tuesday April 15, the chamber in partnership with the Sarnia-Lambton Association of Realtors, will host the seven candidates running for MP of Sarnia-Lambton-Bkejwanong.
The debate at the Dante Club on London Road is free to attend, however the chamber is asking residents to register in advance by April 10.
You can do so through the chamber's website.
The moderated discussion will cover key issues impacting our region ahead of the April 28 vote.
