Fischer, Chartier featured in NHL Central Scouting rankings

Two Sarnia Sting players have made NHL Central Scouting’s most recent ‘Players to Watch’ List for the 2024 NHL draft.

The organization as released its midseason rankings.

Defenceman Lukas Fischer is the 55th ranked skater in North America.

The 17-year-old Brighton, Michigan native has three goals and 14 assists for 17 points across 39 games this season. He had 10 points in 47 games in his rookie year after coming over from the USHL's Cedar Rapids RoughRiders.

He's one of 18 players competing at the 2024 Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game set for Wednesday, January 24 in Moncton, New Brunswick.

Sting rookie goaltender Karsen Chartier is ranked 23rd among North American goaltenders.

He has a 6-4-1 record this year with a 3.39 GAA and .877 save percentage. Last season, he posted a 1.38 GAA in 14 games played with the Burlington Eagles U18 AAA team.

Overall, NHL Central Scouting's list includes nine OHL skaters included in the top-32 North American prospects, indicating a potential first round selection.

A pair of defencemen lead the way in Sam Dickinson of the London Knights and Zayne Parekh of the Saginaw Spirit at seventh and 10th respectively.

The OHL’s highest-ranked forward is Liam Greentree of the Windsor Spitfires at 12.

In goal, Carter George of the Owen Sound Attack is the top-ranked North American netminder followed closely by Ryerson Leenders of the Mississauga Steelheads coming in at third.

The 2024 NHL draft is scheduled to take place June 28-29 at the Sphere in Las Vegas, Nevada.
