Investigators are working to determine the cause of a fatal fire Saturday in Sarnia.
Firefighters responded to a blaze on Napier Street between Nelson Street and Exmouth Street at around 8 a.m.
Chief Fire Prevention Officer Roel Bus said a man in his 60s died in the blaze, and the Ontario Fire Marshal's office has been notified.
"The fire was extinguished quickly, it was kept to the inside structure of this home," said Bus. "It did seem like it was burning through the night. Like I said, it was discovered at about 8:00 a.m. by a passerby."
Bus said the structural integrity of the home was compromised during the fire, impacting the investigation.
"Currently the cause is still under investigation and we have run into a structural issue that's causing a delay," said Bus.
Damage to the one-storey home is estimated at about $150,000. No other injuries were reported.
As of Monday morning, Napier Street was still closed to traffic between Nelson and Exmouth.
The fire is the second fatal fire this year in Sarnia.
On Easter Sunday, a woman in her 80s died in a fire at an Afton Drive apartment.
